Building belonging and trust after a series of M&A

All-hands meeting for 1800 employees of the merged company

More than an event: A cultural foundation

In the wake of a series of mergers and acquisitions, a Danish corporation in the energy sector brought together its 1,800 employees for an all-hands meeting designed to launch a new era.

With a new name, CVI, and branding, the event aimed to foster a sense of belonging, align employees with the company’s mission, and establish a culture rooted in trust.

Our role at PLUS Agency was comprehensive: from strategic program design to flawless execution, we ensured the event aligned with the company’s HR strategy and long-term goals.

This was not just a one-off event but a foundational moment in shaping the company culture and creating connectivity among a diverse workforce, spanning fitters, electricians, customer service agents, engineers, HQ support functions etc.

A strategic kickoff: Before, during, and after

The all-hands meeting was more than an event—it was a learning journey, intentionally crafted to support a broader strategic effort.

By sowing seeds beforehand, fostering meaningful engagement during the event, and conducting follow-up workshops afterward, we ensured the events’ impact became a lasting cornerstone of the company’s transformation.

Before: Setting the stage

To prepare employees for the event, we redesigned a board game that introduced the company’s unique organizational structure and democratic ownership model. Delivered together with a care package, the game engaged employees in their teams, grounding them in the company’s values and fostering curiosity about the upcoming event.

After: Sustaining momentum

The journey didn’t end with the all-hands meeting. Employees reconvened in their teams for a workshop facilitated by team leaders. This session focused on trust, human-centric values, and embedding these principles into everyday practices, ensuring the event’s impact would be felt long after the final applause.

During: A three-day all-hands experience

Over three days, 600 employees each day gathered for a program designed to inspire, connect, and energize. Highlights included:

  • Hook: The event opened with a comedic short film featuring renowned Danish actors. The skit depicted “couples’ therapy” sessions with employee archetypes, humorously highlighting the need for understanding and collaboration across roles.
  • Fairground: The centerpiece of the event was our signature Fairground concept, where small groups of six employees rotated through interactive stations. (see more below)
  • Speakers: Internal and external speakers addressed the company’s future, its ability to navigate challenges, and the central role of trust in its culture and operations.
  • Closing act: A freestyle rapper tied the day’s themes together, providing an energetic and memorable conclusion.

The Fairground activities had a variety of formats, including audio walks, roleplaying, quizzes, mini-escape rooms, gamified discussions and much more.

These diverse formats ensured that everyone—regardless of their role or experience—could engage meaningfully, exploring the company’s new structure and purpose, gaining insights into its products, and deepening their understanding of the compa company values.
